MagenTx 50 microspheres are built on a core particle of a proprietary polymer composition. These core particles are evenly coated with a uniform layer of ultrafine, superparamagnetic nanocrystalline magnetite incorporated into a carboxylate functionalized polymer. This unique configuration results in a highly magnetically responsive microsphere with a density slightly greater than typical biological buffers, which allows isolation by centrifugation or magnetization while still exhibiting dramatically slower settling under ambient conditions.
With these innovative features, the MagenTx 50 microspheres are easier to work with than any other magnetic microsphere. Coupling to the COOH groups on the surface is achieved by any number of well-known protocols, and the slow settling rate will ensure that the microspheres stay well dispersed in solution for the duration of most procedures. The result is a more even, uniform coupling of biological molecules to the entire microsphere population.
